Back in The Craft Room

Whew.  What a year 2011 has turned out to be.  Lots of major events have had me missing-in-action from the papercraft world.  The most recent event was a hysterectomy, but I am happy to say that I am well on my way to recovery and am back in the saddle craft room again!
I particularly liked having one of my sweet daughters spend a couple of evenings making cards with me.

At first, I simply made another dozen wings cards with bits and pieces I all ready had cut out.

Then my sweet friend DP left a bag on my door, with some precut cards and papers for me to assemble some quick and easy Mother's Day cards.

This same sweet friend joined me in the craft room last night and we created some "You're Sweet" and "Hot Diggity" cards. The Hot Diggity cards were inspired by this card that I saved to my CASE file but it doesn't have a name with it...so if you know who the creator is, please give credit. The "peaches" card was inspired by the amazing Debbie Carriere You really need to check out her blog!

And tonight I finally finished the layout of my parents that I started nearly two months ago!
My mom was (and is) such a tiny and beautiful lady!  Growing up, I always thought she was the prettiest mom I knew.

Hopefully I'll get back to posting at least once a week.  But even more than paper crafting I miss WALKING...and I even miss HOUSE WORK!  My family has been wonderful but sitting around, reading, sleeping and eating (and watching countless episodes of Murder She Wrote) gets boring :)
Happy Mother's Day!  And thanks for stopping by,
Marie with a :)

heart2heart:reuse/recycle...

It's been so long since I've been in the craft room that I've almost forgotten where everything is.
In fact, I've got bunches of birthday "craft" gifts from the beginning of March that I haven't even touched.
Last night, my daughter ventured in with me and we each managed to come up with a card.  Mine was for the Heart 2 Heart challenge. You should check out the H2H blog - lots of great creations to inspire!

The challenge was to recycle or reuse something.  The buttons came from old, discarded clothing.
The picture shows up a little better with a black background:

Didn't 'Lyssie Girl do a fabulous job on this card? Before she started she said "I'm just not good at card making."  I disagree!

Have a wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by!

h2h sketch

The HH and I process things a bit differently.
After a recent family loss, he has been busy building a shed in his spare time.
I, on the other hand, haven't been able to create anything.
I finally decided to give the H2H Sketch Challenge  a try. I'm not really pleased with the results, but at least I made something!

Be sure to visit Heart2Heart to check out the design team's fabulous creations.

Below are a few other cards I created but never posted. The wings ones were with pieces leftover from my first workshop outside of my home.

Thanks for stopping by!  Marie with a :)

Loving the Spray Pens!

I love, love, love the new CTMH spray pens. Here are a couple of cards combining the spray pens with embossing for a watercolor effect:

So Lucky / Enjoy Life

I am so enamored with the new Lucky papers and the Enjoy Life stamp set set.  I needed some masculine-ish cards so it was lucky for me, I had the paper and stamps :)  (corny, I know...)

I purposely left some of these without a sentiment so I would have masculine cards on hand for Get Well or Thank You cards.
I like to add some texture without too much bulk.  Paper folding like on this card is one way to accomplish that.

another way to add texture is simple score lines like in the (awful) photo above :)

I have two male friends (husbands of two of my best friends) who have birthdays on March 23.  I love using my Moments in Time, with its mini calendars (D1339 - available only until sold out - which may already have occured) to personalize cards.

These last two cards actually use the Wings Creative Paper rather than the Lucky.

Thanks for stopping by!
